This Easy Baked Ziti with Mozzarella is the ultimate comfort food! Hearty pasta, rich marinara sauce, and a generous amount of melted mozzarella come together in this simple yet delicious dish that’s perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

For the Ziti:

  • 1 lb ziti pasta (or penne)

  • 2 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)

  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1/2 cup ricotta cheese (optional for extra creaminess)

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp dried basil

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For Garnish:

  • Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (optional)


Instructions

1. Cook the Ziti:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Cook the ziti pasta according to package instructions, until al dente (about 8-10 minutes). Drain and set aside.

2. Prepare the Sauce:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the marinara sauce with dried basil, garlic powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper.

  2. Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and stir to coat evenly.

3. Layer the Ziti:

  1. In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, add half of the pasta and sauce mixture.

  2. Sprinkle with half of the mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and ricotta cheese (if using).

  3. Add the remaining pasta and sauce on top and finish by layering with the rest of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.

4. Bake:

  1. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.

  2. After 20 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and golden brown.

5. Serve & Enjoy:

 

  1. Let the baked ziti rest for 5 minutes before serving.

  2. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley for a pop of color.
